In collaboration with Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo and as part of the public program of the exhibition Ulises Carrión. Dear Reader. Dont Read, Index Art Book Fair presents Spoken Word Gallery by Tania Pérez Córdoba and Francesco Pedraglio, an ephemeral exhibition developed in the museums facilities using spoken language as the main medium. This project will be presented on Friday, April 14 at ‬11 AM. Also on Saturday, April 15 at 4 PM in the lobby of the museum Raul Marroquín and Juan A. Aguis, both contemporaries of Carrión, will be talking about his work and the canon of artists books in Mexico.

Spoken Word Gallery is a project by Juan de la Cosa / John of the Thing. With no physical objects and no use of images, the Spoken Word Gallery presents a program of exhibitions made entirely by spoken language.

3.  El mundo se reorganizará alrededor de cada nuevo presente.
4.  El Presante presionando sobre nosotros,

8.  Deshecho… no puedo mirarte directo al ojo… Bueno, los accidentes suceden…
10. Y de pronto un destello repentino de luces negras mientras la cabeza voltea y retrocede y un cerebro impacta contra la parte trasera de un craneo.

Paul Becker (Windsor, Great Britain, 1967)
Artist, writer and professor. His solo exhibitions includes New Painting, Drop City, Newcastle (2015); The Cat, Carpeted, Le Salon, Brussels (2012); Noble Prince Of The Royal Mysteries, Vane Gallery, Newcastle (2008); Fontanelle, Transition Gallery, London (2005) and Chapter Gallery, Cardiff (2003). He has been exhibited too in collective surveys, as: The Decorator & the Thief, Northern Gallery of Contemporary Art, Sunderland (2015); The Imaginary Archive, Whitechapel Gallery, London (2015); When I Was Young I Never Needed Anyone, MAUVE, Vienna (2014); Auto Italia Live, ICA, London (2013); Sincerely how am I talking?, Hollybush Gardens, London (2012). Becker is copublisher of the book Cadavere Quotidiano (X-TRA Publishing, Los Angeles, 2014) and he cofounded Drop City in Newcastle.

Luis Felipe Fabre (Mexico City, 1974)
Poet, writer and publisher based in Mexico City. He has written Leyendo agujeros. Ensayos sobre (des)escritura, antiescritura y no escritura (2005), Cabaret Provenza (2007), La sodomía en la Nueva España (2010) and Poemas de terror y de misterio (2013). He has published Divino Tesoro. Muestra de nueva poesía mexicana (2008), La Edad de Oro, Antología de poesía mexicana actual (2012) and Arte & basura. Una antología poética de Mario Santiago Papasquiaro (2012).

Two guests, personally and professionally close to the life and work of Ulises Carrión, will share with the public impressions about the legacy of this artist, his influence and current affairs.

Juan J. Agius (Ciudad Real, Spain, 1944)
Lives and works in Geneva, Switzerland. He has been an art student in Paris, gallery owner and publisher of artist books in Amsterdam and a bookseller specializing in the latest avant-gardes in Geneva. At the moment he is in charge of the preservation and publication of the personal documents of Ulises Carrión, being the legal owner of his copyrights.

Raúl Marroquín (Bogotá, Colombia, 1947)
Media artist specialized in video since 1968. He is considered one of the pioneers of video art in Europe. His work forms part of a large number of public and private collections, such as Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam; Center Pompidou, Paris; Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid; Modern Museet, Stockholm; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Saatchi Collection London; Ludwig Collection, Germany; Bonnefanten Museum Maastricht, Germany. His work has been presented in museums in Europe, America and Asia; as well as in various institutions such as ICA, London; ICC, Antwerp; Neue Galerie, Aachen / Cologne and Chicago Art Institute.
